Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a nice bag for a while now, and I finally decided to go for it. I’ve been eyeing the PRADA Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag for some time, but man, that price tag is something else. So, I thought, why not try to remake one myself? I mean, how hard could it be, right?

First things first, I needed to get some materials. I did a bit of digging around and found some pretty decent Saffiano leather. It feels and looks like the real deal, to be honest. I made sure to get enough for the entire bag and some extra, just in case I messed up.

Gathering Materials

  • Saffiano Leather: Got this from a local supplier. Feels and looks like the genuine thing.
  • Lining: Found some nice fabric for the interior.
  • Hardware: Picked up some buckles, zippers, and a PRADA logo replica.
  • Thread: Heavy-duty thread for stitching.

Once I had all the materials, I started working on the bag. I found a few tutorials online on how to make a bag, but nothing specific to the PRADA Galleria. So, I kind of had to wing it and use the pictures of the original bag as a guide.

I started by cutting the leather into the right shapes and sizes. This part was a bit tricky, but I took my time and made sure everything was precise. Next, I started stitching the pieces together. This took a while, but it was kind of therapeutic, you know? Seeing the bag take shape was pretty cool.

The interior of the bag was another challenge. The original bag has these compartments and pockets that make it super practical. I wanted to replicate that, so I spent a good amount of time figuring out how to add those in. It wasn’t easy, but I managed to get it done.

One thing I noticed about the authentic PRADA bags is that they come with a Quality Assurance Tag and an Authenticity Card. I didn’t bother with making those, but I did find a small white tag inside the original bag’s interior pocket with a number on it. I added a similar tag to my remake, just for the heck of it.

After many hours of cutting, stitching, and assembling, the bag was finally done. And I have to say, it turned out pretty darn good! It looks almost identical to the original PRADA Small Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. I even used it a few times, and it held up pretty well.

Would I recommend doing this? Well, if you have the time and patience, sure. It’s definitely cheaper than buying the original, and you get the satisfaction of making something with your own hands. Plus, you can customize it however you want. But if you’re not into DIY stuff, then maybe just save up for the real deal or look for an affordable alternative. It’s all up to you!
