This year, that green water ghost, you know, that Rolex Submariner, it’s all the rage! Everyone’s talkin’ about it. My neighbor’s kid, he’s always showin’ off his fancy stuff. He said he wants one but they are all sold out at the official flagship store. He said it’s so hard to get, even harder than gettin’ a good husband!
He kept goin’ on and on about this Rolex Submariner. I said, “Boy, what’s so special about a green watch?” He just rolled his eyes. Said it’s not just any watch. It’s a symbol, or somethin’ like that.
So, the other day, I saw these fellas sellin’ watches on the street. They had all kinds, shiny and sparkly. And guess what? They had that green one, the high imitation Rolex Submariner! I thought, “Bingo! Maybe I can get one for that boy.” He’d be so happy. But, the boy’s dad said that those are fake ones.
Now, I don’t know much about these fancy Rolex things. But I know a good deal when I see one. That high imitation Rolex Submariner green looked just like the picture my neighbor’s kid showed me. Shiny, green, and had all them little numbers on it. It looked just as good! They even told me that they look just like the ones from the official store!
The fella sellin’ it said it was a high imitation, just like the real Rolex Submariner from the official flagship store, just cheaper. He even said that this fake one can give me the same prestige. I don’t know about prestige, but I know it looked good.

As long as it tells time, that’s all that matters. But that boy’s dad said it is easy to tell. He said the number on the fake Rolex watches are usually painted. But for me, they just look the same.
My neighbor’s kid kept sayin’ the real Rolex Submariner is expensive, and it’s hard to buy because everyone wants one. Even the used ones are expensive. People just love that Rolex Submariner green! So many people want it, but not enough to go around. That’s why it’s so expensive, he said. He kept goin’ on and on about how it’s not overvalued. I don’t understand. If people are payin’, then it’s not overvalued, right?
The price of this high imitation Rolex Submariner, it was a lot less than what my neighbor’s kid said the real one cost. I thought, “Well, that’s a steal!” But people told me that fake is fake. It can never be a real one.
I asked them if they have got the official flagship store‘s approval. They just laughed. So I guess they don’t.
I still think that high imitation Rolex Submariner green looked pretty darn good. For folks like us, who don’t have a whole lot of money, maybe it’s a good way to have somethin’ nice. You know, somethin’ that looks fancy and makes you feel good. Maybe someday I’ll get one and see what all the fuss is about. If that boy sees it, he would be so jealous.
But I don’t know. Maybe that neighbor’s kid is right. Maybe there’s somethin’ special about the real Rolex Submariner from the official flagship store. Somethin’ you just can’t get with a high imitation. But for now, that shiny green watch sure is tempting. It’s so popular now!
These days, everyone’s wearin’ those big watches. Even the ladies! I saw old Mrs. Chen down the street, she had a big gold one on. Didn’t look like a Rolex Submariner, but it was big and shiny. Maybe I should ask her where she got it. She likes to brag about her things, too. Maybe she also got a high imitation one.
I guess if you want somethin’ that looks good and don’t care if it’s real or not, then a high imitation Rolex Submariner might be the way to go. But if you want the real deal, the one everyone’s talkin’ about, then you gotta go to the official flagship store, and be prepared to wait, and pay a lot of money!
I still don’t know if I should get one or not. It’s a lot of money, even for a high imitation. But it sure is pretty. Maybe I’ll just keep lookin’ at the pictures for now. And listen to that neighbor’s kid talk about his dream watch, the real Rolex Submariner green from the official flagship store.
