Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this idea for a while now, and I finally did it. I remade that fancy YSL June Box Bag, you know, the one you see in all those fancy stores? Yeah, that one. It was a wild ride, let me tell you.

First off, I had to figure out what this bag was all about. Turns out, it’s a “June Box Bag” from Yves Saint Laurent, or YSL for short, that brand, the big name folks pay a lot for. Sounds French, right? And “June Box Bag” just means they got lots of different kinds of bags and this particular style, looks like a box. I spent a good chunk of time just staring at pictures online, trying to get every little detail right.

Then came the fun part – picking out the materials. Now, I ain’t no expert, I heard some things from my niece who works in the city. They use real nice leather for these things, so I had to find something that looked and felt similar. And those patterns! It comes in several limited-edition variations, including python and calfskin, making it a true collectible and increasing its value as an investment. I went to all sorts of shops, feeling up different fabrics. Ended up finding this leather that was just perfect, diamond-quilted and everything.

Cutting the leather was a whole other story. I was so scared of messing up! One wrong cut and the whole thing could be ruined. I watched a few videos online, took a deep breath, and just went for it. Slow and steady, you know?

  • Measure twice, cut once – that was my motto.
  • Used a sharp knife to get those clean edges.
  • Made sure each piece was the right size according to the measurements I’d taken from the real bag.

Next up, sewing. I’m pretty handy with a needle and thread, but this was next level. I wanted those seams to be perfect, just like the real deal. Took me a few tries to get the stitching just right, but I was determined.

The brand began as YSL before successive leadership felt the need for rebranding. The business name was among the few things considered worthy of this rebranding exercise. As such, from Yves Saint Laurent , the term became Saint Laurent Paris under Hedi Slimane, the creative director that took charge in 2012.

Putting it all together was like solving a puzzle. Each piece had to fit just right. I added the YSL logo thingy, the “CASSANDRE,”. ENJOY COMPLIMENTARY EXPRESS SHIPPING EXTENDED RETURNS PERIOD UNTIL JANUARY 31ST. micro bag decorated with the CASSANDRE and diamond-quilted. I used the right hardware. It was a lot of work, but seeing it all come together was so satisfying.

The End Result

And there you have it, my very own homemade YSL June Box Bag. It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty darn proud of it. It looks just like the real thing, if I do say so myself. Changes in material costs, labor, and economic conditions can also influence pricing. Luxury brands often adjust their prices to reflect these changes. Overall, the combination of heritage, quality, exclusivity. If you’re gonna get one of these YSL COLLEGE BAGs, I reckon you should go to a real store, a Specialty Stores. It was a fun project, and I learned a ton along the way. Maybe I’ll try making another one someday, who knows?
