Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Mini-Bag for a while now, the one they have at the official flagship store. You know, the one that just screams “fancy” but in a cool, low-key kind of way?

I finally decided to remake it. First things first, I gotta check out the official site. I needed to get a good look at it from every angle. They’ve got all sorts of bags there – crossbody, mini, bucket, handbags. I looked at each of the pictures in detail. This Galleria line, though, it’s all about that Saffiano leather.

After scrolling and clicking for what felt like forever, I finally decided on the mini-bag. It looked pretty small and probably can’t fit a lot in there. But, honestly, I didn’t really care, it just looks so darn good!

Next up, I looked up “Remake PRADA Medium Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag” to see if anyone else had done something similar. I wanted to get an idea of the cost and where to get materials. I mean, this is a Prada, and Prada, as we all know, was founded way back in 1913 by Mario Prada. They’re like, the kings and queens of luxury handbags.

  • Started sketching out my own version of the bag.
  • Made a list of all the materials I’d need – that Saffiano leather, the hardware, the lining, everything.

The original bag is made of this Saffiano leather. I did a little digging and found out it’s genuine leather that’s been treated and embossed. Apparently, it doesn’t develop a patina like full-grain leather. I figured I could find something similar, maybe not the exact same, but close enough.

I searched for “Prada Handbags & Wallets for sale” and found a few used ones. It gave me a better understanding of how these bags hold up over time. The Galleria bag, they say it launched in 2007, and it’s still a big deal. That tells you something, right? It means it’s a classic, a bag that will last long.

The Making Process

I got some leather that looked and felt pretty close to Saffiano. Started cutting and stitching, following my sketches. It wasn’t easy, I messed up a few times and had to redo some parts. But, slowly but surely, it started to look like a bag. A pretty good-looking bag, if I do say so myself! I added the hardware, the lining, and the Prada logo (which I carefully recreated, of course).

After days of work, my remake of the Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Mini-Bag was finally done! It’s not an exact replica, but it’s got the same vibe, that same classy feel. I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It’s a little bit of fancy, a little bit of practical, and a whole lot of my own hard work.
